Click for Boca Grande, Florida ForecastGasparilla Island is located on Florida's Southwest Coast, midway between Sarasota and Ft. Myers. Seven miles of pristine white sand beaches stretch the entire Gulf side of the island, while protected waters weave in and around the natural mangrove shorelines along the bay side. The nucleus of Gasparilla Island is the unincorporated village of Boca Grande, about two blocks square, located midpoint on the island. The island is part of both Charlotte and Lee Counties.

The bike path is part of Florida's Rails-to-Trails project, utilizing the old railroad right-of-way that is a green-space parallel to but set aside from the main road.

In Boca Grande you can hike, bike or cart along the meandering paths on the island. You'll see everything from historic sites to tropical nature settings. Below are photos of Boca Grande taken while riding around on a golf cart. We hope these photographs entice you to visit Boca Grande and Gasparilla Island.. and of course while you're here, please stop by and visit us at The Palm on Park.

Pristine white sand and clear blue water. One of the many breathtaking views found along Gasparilla Island's bike path. White sandy beaches. Pelicans perch on abandoned pilings on a foggy morning.

A lone gazebo along the gulf on a foggy morning. A solitary secluded bench along the waterfront. The banyans along Banyan Street were planted in 1914. Their thick reaching limbs and leaves create a canopy of shade that is breathtaking to see. The bike path with the jogging trail winding along side, is 6.5 miles in length from the north to south end of the island.

Boca Grande may be accessed by car or boat, this is a view of a canal entrance along the bike path. Private docks. The Boca Grande Lighthouse was built in 1890 by the U.S. Lighthouse Service to mark the entrance into Charlotte Harbor from the Gulf of Mexico. Armory Memorial Chapel, formerly the Shiloh Baptist Church.

An egret along the bike path, another animal you'll see around the island are iguanas. Pink Bougainvillea foreground a view of the island golf course along the bike path.. More Pink Bougainvillea. Golf carts aren't restricted to golf courses, in Boca Grande we use them almost like cars or bikes, they're everywhere!

Beautiful landscaping abounds on the island, pictured here is the Florida Flame Vine. And the path continues... Wall against backdrop of sandy road to gulf. Ariel Ltd. is one of three stores owned by Jennifer Burch of Boca Grande. The Palm on Park and Ltl Ariel are Jennifer's two other specialty stores.
